Product Release: Powerbox SecurBox - Integrated Security Cabinet for Access Control and Intrusion Systems

23/12/25 Powerbox Pacific

Powerbox has developed the SecurBox to meet the specific needs of the local electronic security industry - offering a pre-wired, pre-configured cabinet solution for access control and intruder detection installations. By integrating power supply, battery charging, and fused power distribution into a single wall-mounted enclosure, SecurBox streamlines deployment, reduces on-site wiring, and improves installation consistency.

Manufactured in Australia, SecurBox is designed for local conditions and project requirements, providing security installers with a reliable, compliant, and time-saving power platform.

Built for the Security Industry

SecurBox has been engineered with input from professional installers and integrators to eliminate common pain points during the installation of power systems in security enclosures. Whether deployed in a standalone access control cabinet or supporting a multi-site rollout, SecurBox offers a consistent, field-ready solution.

Key Benefits:

  • Pre-Wired and Factory-Assembled

All internal components are pre-installed and interconnected, including charger, PDM, voltmeter, tamper switches, and mains lead.

  • Fire Trip Distribution Options

8-way models feature glass fuses and selectable outputs for either fire trip or standard power modes — ideal for systems with life safety integration requirements.

  • Self-Healing PTC Fuse Options

Compact PDM variants offer 10 or 20 outputs using resettable fuses for streamlined, low-maintenance load protection.

  • Built-In Diagnostics and Status Monitoring

LED indicators and Form-C relay outputs provide feedback on mains fail, battery OK, and battery fuse status.

  • Dual Tamper Switches

Monitors both enclosure cover and chassis to detect unauthorised access.

  • Installer-Friendly Enclosure Design

Rear and side cable entries, facility for 2 GPO cut-outs, and passive ventilation make site integration easy.

¹ Glass fuses are standard 5×20mm field-replaceable types and can be swapped to suit application current ratings.

² PTC (polymer resettable) fuses provide automatic recovery after fault clearance and are rated for nominal hold current at 25°C. Trip and reset characteristics vary with ambient temperature and load profile.

³ Each fused output can be individually configured as fire trip or standard power. Fire trip mode de-energises the output when the monitored fire relay input is activated (12–24Vdc coil or dry contact).

⁴ All models are internally pre-wired from battery charger to power distribution module and battery terminals. Battery must be supplied separately and connected on site.

Powered by the Certified PBB2S MKII Platform

At the core of every SecurBox cabinet is a Powerbox PBB2S MKII Series DC-UPS battery charger, delivering regulated 12Vdc or 24Vdc output with integrated battery charging and backup capability. Designed for use in fixed electronic security installations, the PBB2S MKII ensures reliable power delivery for access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.

All power supply models used within the SecurBox range are fully registered under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS) in accordance with New Zealand and Australian legislation for in-scope devices. This includes compliance with the following standards:

  • AS/NZS 61558.2.16 – General-purpose power supply safety
  • AS/NZS 62368.1 – Safety for ICT and AV equipment
  • CISPR 32 Class B – Electromagnetic compatibility for commercial environments

All power supply models are registered under the Electrical Equipment Safety System (EESS) with Registration Number E2025004894, simplifying documentation and approvals for security installations.

Each charger includes integrated fault indication for mains loss, battery condition, and fuse failure via status LEDs and dry contact relay outputs, supporting effective monitoring and diagnostics within security control infrastructure.
